Join the movement.
The idea is a simple one.
We’re about celebrating the best of local produce and the people who grow, make and cook with it. The local food heroes. Want to join the party? It’s super easy. Here’s the challenge.
Host a supper for a small gathering of minds and join the movement.
1). Source as many of the ingredients for your dishes as is practically possible from within a 25 mile radius (as the crow flies) from your location. It’s not always super practical, and you don’t need to be overly militant about it. The main ones are the important bit. But try your best. You’ll be surprised how much stuff you can get locally if you look around a little.
2). Be creative. We love quirky. We love inventiveness. We love people that have a go at something they haven’t done before. It doesn’t need to be perfect.
3). Share your recipes, methods and tips from the supper.
4). Include all of your suppliers and where they can be found.
5). Photographs. Capture as much as you can in images. Sometimes a picture can say a whole lot more than a wall of text. Raw ingredients, the making process, the final product, and your guests tucking in to the well thought out culinary delights you’ve slaved all evening over. They really are some seriously lucky people, so document it all. Make the night your own. Then show us your take on it.
6). Nominate two friends to also complete the challenge.
7). Share it. #25milesupper
8). Email it to us. We’ll feature the best on our blog. We’ll even write it up for you if you’re not too confident on that front.
And remember, the more local the better. If you can find that one guy that grows his own small batches of obscure and exotic chillies for the lamb madras you’re going to serve that night then kudos. Power to you. That’ll take some beating.
